In the day to day running of the business we get many calls and enquires from both domestic and commercial people. We also get to hear a lot of horror stories about high prices etc. She had been quoted £380 to have it replaced but luckily she had the sense to shop around. She was passed our number by a friend who had used us and we went to take a look. The lock was beyond repair and need replacing but with these locks its difficult to have the right one in stock with over 200 variations of them. After a quick trip to the wholesaler and back her door was sorted and it only cost her £235 total with the vat.We have no idea how the other company arrived at their price but it may have had something to do with the fact this lady is very elderly. How do these people sleep at night ? The silly thing is this particular company will lose much more longterm work once this lady talks about her experience to her many friends. The problem is their are some many people jumping on the locksmith bandwagon with very little training or experience.Just google locksmith training and you will see the extent of the problem. Many realise its not as easy to earn a living as they were promised by the training school and struggle. To overcome the lack of work they rip off those who do give them work as a way to make ends meet.. Unfortunately the government is not interested in regulating the industry so the misery or many will go on |
