The online shop is doing well with gate orders coming in from canny shoppers looking for a bargain.
Its good to see so many people taking the intiative to buy retractable gates through our online shop and install them themselves.Home protection need not cost the earth if you are competent with a drill and good at d.i.y.
Getting a lot of calls from customers looking to reinforce their doors and frames on flats due to restrictions by some councils on the fitting of security gates.Steel sheets, london, bars and lock guards can do a superb job in these circumstances.
Had quite an interesting challenge this week to deal with a huge door that had been fitted with the thickest steel sheet we have ever seen on a wooden door. The steel was 5mm thick and added a considerable weight to the door hinges and door closer. The knock on effect was that the door was slamming shut as the closer couldn't cope and the lock was taking a hammering. Upgrading the door closer to one with a heavier rating and more importantly one that could cope with the weight of the door made things a lot better. Now its not slamming and taking the pressure off of the new heavy duty latch fitted.A commercial grade handle tops off the install meaning trouble free operation for a long time to come.
The client had already had it attended to a few times before we visited but nobody spotted the door closer was not up to the weight, not good really.
Now the commercial grade hardware is in place its easy to tell the difference just turning the handle.I think most people would prefer to pay a bit more if all the facts are explained and it means something that will last a longer longer giving less hassle.Time is important to any business so why waste time arranging contractors to keeping fixing things.Far too many people fix the symtoms rather than the actual problem causing the symptoms.
Burglaries seem as prevalent as ever with forest hill still a busy area.Had a call from a previous customer who had been burgled again.Even though we fitted retractable gates to al the windows(the previous point of entry) this time the front door was the point of entry.with some lovely new steel security gates on order as i speak so that won't be happening again.
Whats happened to the summer ? Got soaked in a mini monsoon the other day just paying for parking, and they call this global warming ?
I must admit i do prefer the warm weather even if big installs mean you are sweating you socks off.
The sun just makes you feel good doesn't it ?
Coming soon we have the institute of certified locksmiths annual trade show event .This year im doing a demonstration of how to install retractable gates to the trade.Should be fun having an audience made up of the trade instead of the public. Will be good to meet up with other locksmith ffriends from all over the country too, really looking forward to it.
