Locksmithing in london throws up many surprises.
Attended to a fire escape door that needed some tlc and was surprised at what we found. The door turned out to be a custom made steel fire exit door. The best bit was it had a plate showing the date of manufacture was 1973. Obviously built to last as its over 30 years old.
Collapsible gates are still very much in demand with many people realising physical security is the only way to keep out burglars. Burglary is still very common with many areas experiencing it. Laptops, games consuls and ipods seem the most popular items to steal.Being only small makes them easy to conceal andalso easy to sell i suppose. A home safe is a good way to prevent theft of ipods and laptops.
Custom made security gates are another popular item with many enquiries each week for this excelent burglary deterrent. Its nice to see many people going for different colours and making the security gates a feature.
Lots of mortice locks fitted recently too as people are finding their insurance companies are requiring british standard locks or they are not insured. Each insurance company has different standards and requirements. Some will only require a 5 lever mortice lock others insist on a bs3621 lock and in some parts of london they are insisting on particular brand like evva or banham. Its worth checking with your own insurance company exactly what it is they expect just in case you need to claim.
Forest hill, dulwich and the surrounding areas have had a fair few burglaries recently.Bromley, bickley and pettswood have had the odd one or two judging from the calls received.Bromley always seems busy to drive through with bromley south always clogged up as you go up masons hill, why is that ?
