- Talk to your neighbours, get to know them.They will look out for your property if you go away and vice versa.
- Look at your property and work out how YOU would break in, then address how you would get in.
- Consider buying a home safe for your most valuable items and documents like passports and credit cards.
- Fit additional window locks
- Consider fitting a door chain and spy hole.
- If you have expensive cars or caravans it may be worth fitting parking posts or driveway gates.
- Mark your valuable iitems with your postcode.
- Take photos of your most valuable items and catalogue them in case they do get stolen.
- If you have a dog get it chipped as dogtheft is now common.
- if have a motor bike make sure it is secured to a ground anchor,many bikes are stolen by just lifting them up and putting them in a van.
- Consider installing cctv cameras
- Get to know your postman, they often know what is going on in your local neighbourhood and hear of burglaries etc.
- fit security gates and folding window gates or window bars if you live in a high crime area.
