Door and Frame Reinforcement | Print |
We specialise in burglary prevention

Quite often circumstances arise where locks are not enough to prevent a break in.It may not be possible to fit a security gate or you may want something a bit more discreet.By reinforcing the door frame and the door itself you have an alternative way of securing your property.

Reinforcing the frame can easily be done by the instalation of a london bar or birmingham bar. These are a strip of metal that runs down the length of the frame and is screwed in.The london bar goes on the lock side of the frame and the birmingham bar on t
he hinge side.

If the door is kicked it means the frame is unable to split as the force is spread out because the london bar or birmingham is fitted.

This means that now the door is the weak spot so if the door is of a weak design it will need reinforcing.

Ways of reinforcing a door can vary. The methods we prefer are the use of lock guards, steel sheets or anti jemmy strips.

Lock Guard Protecting a euro deadlock
Lock guards are two plates of metal that clamp around the mortice lock fitted to the door. This prevents the door spliting around the lock where the wood is weaker. These can be fitted around standard mortice lock and also euro cylinder deadcases.different styles and finishes are available depending the the circumstances.

Anti jemmy strips are made up of two strips of metal. One strip is fitted to the door and the other to the frame on the o
utside of the door. When the door is shut the two strips interlock making it gaps between the door and frame completely covered. This prevents someone trying to crow bar or screwdriver open the door between the door and frame. There are three types of strip to suit variuous types of door including outward opening doors. These are available in white or brown.

Steel reinforcement sheets are the ultimate reinforcement for a wooden door. By fitting a steel sheet the whole door is strengthened against force attacks, especially kicking.
The steel sheets are fitted by screwing to the door with security screws or by bolting through the door in areas requiring a bit more protection like fire exits.
Steel sheet powder coated to match the existing door colour
The steel sheets can be powder coated to any colour so the match or blend in with their surroundings.Letter box slots can be cut out along with key holes etc.

Steel sheets really tell burglars you take your security seriously and will hopefully make them go else where.
